Rajpal Yadav Tihar Jail surrender authorities on February 5, 2026. Rajpal Yadav’s surrender comes after the Delhi High Court refused to extend the deadline of his plea in a decade-old Rs 9 crore cheque-bounce case Rajpal Yadav.

The Delhi High Court sent him to jail for six months saying he “persistently flouted the orders” of the court. Rajpal Yadav was asked by the court to surrender on February 4 as the dues related to his films started accumulating and reached almost Rs 9 crore.

His business venture Ata Pata Laapata failed badly, and what started as a business failure turned into a decade-long legal battle landing him behind bars.

A case was filed against him in 2010, reported PTI. Rajpal Yadav had taken a loan of about Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for his directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. The film bombed at the box office and ran into huge losses.

Due to poor returns from the film, Yadav was unable to repay the loan amount. He accumulated interests, penalties, and charges for delayed payments and ended up owing close to Rs 9 crore.

He gave multiple cheques to repay the amount he owed to the lender. The cheques bounced resulting in the initiation of criminal proceedings against Yadav under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Yadav and his wife were convicted by a magisterial court in April 2018 in multiple cheque bounce cases. He was sentenced to six months in Bollywood actor legal trouble 2026. The sessions court had confirmed Yadav’s conviction in 2019.
